About Human Sciences

Human Sciences is another way of saying psychology in the sense that both are about the study and understanding of the way humans function. It can be linked to many ways of knowing, the most obvious may be emotion, reason and ethics. But first, natural science must be differentiated from human sciences.

Intuition and reasoning

comic by Karen Villalba
Deductive reasoning can be described as following logic you know and applying it to a situation, such as this comic demonstrates. Since most people have legs, and that is what you know, you assume that the person in the comic has legs even though they are not showing. Deductive reasoning can be referred to as top-down logic, where logic follows by a general statement to a specific conclusion. Inductive reasoning leads to a more general conclusion, and is different.

Our intuition is followed by our logic, we make decisions based on what we already know with inductive and deductive reasoning. Our core intuitions help us with our daily life and get us through fundamental obstacles.

Subject-specific intuition is linked to specific areas of knowledge, so you may know what to do when it comes to the arts or sciences because you may be well versed in those areas. This can evolve with education and practice, and is also linked with ethics.

Social intuition lies with our morality, whether or not we could be considered good or bad decided on standards created by society. It comes from making right or wrong choices, but is there really a line? I think yes. Morally, we should be respectful to one another and not do anything drastic. Social intuition has much to do with interacting with people using the base of logic and knowledge of what you already know about the person or how to interact with new people.

Conquer Your Passions And You Can Conquer The World

The title is a hindu proverb, implicating that if you are able to pursue your hobbies and passions you will be able to excel in your world and consequently rise to the top. I agree because, when you are motivated with something you like, you tend to do better than you previously could. You are happier and much comfortable with your passions, because you like it. I have been able to get far in my hobbies because I'm passionate about them, I myself have been able to form connections with others and I believe I have a good chance at succeeding in what I do. I hold high respect and passion for what I'm interested in, so I hope i could succeed.

Many famous people today have pursued the passions they loved and they excelled, so look at where they are now. I've seen examples with my friends, too. I have friends who are very involved in their passions and for that they have been getting the recognition and attention they deserve, most people I meet online have at least heard of them which brings me great joy (and maybe quite a bit of envy.) to see that they have come so far to be so recognizable.

Thought and feeling

Feelings don't have to rational, in fact, there are many mental illnesses, such as personality disorders, which make it harder for someone to think or feel rationally in the situation. The justification of emotions in the sense should be clarified, there are many situations where this cannot happen, though. If the action taken was harmful, there is no justification to it. In my opinion, emotions and feelings are essential to human behavior and social mannerisms.

There are many ways to express emotions, I find that the most difficult way is to use words. There's no words that can explain how I feel, emotions are better represented in actions because actions are deeply rooted in how you feel and is therefore, the best way of expression.

The Somatic Marker

The Somatic Marker Theory is an intuition, a pulse of emotions that causes action or feeling in regards to a situation, nerve impulses triggering emotion. The theory implies that the trigger is not just a sense in one part of the body but a command, somatic markers are associated with rapid heartbeat=anxiety or nausea=disgust. It strongly influences decision making as in economic theory, decision making is devoid of emotion and is rooted in logical facts and situation.

Is All Communication Language?

There are other systems of communication but they do not necessarily have to be a new form of language. Language is the act of using words and sentences, communication is how you perform that language. Body language, be it sign language or minor indicators, aren't languages but are instead, methods of communication.

Math, music and computer code is comparable to language, though they aren't spoken languages. They're different languages that communicate different ideas, math is a scientific language.

Language holds the concept of keys and patterns in order to inform others of what you're doing.

Emotions

Emotion is an expression of oneself given on how they feel at any given moment. Emotion is the way you feel and how you choose to express it, feeling is a subtle itch you could feel when something happens. It's more subconscious than out front.

These are primary emotions:
  • Happiness
  • Anger
  • Sadness
  • Fear

Definition of emotion, taken from the dictionary: a natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others: she was attempting to control her emotions | his voice was low and shaky with emotion | fear had become his dominant emotion.

Emotion can affect behavior and relationships with others and entirely depends on the situation or one's state of mind and could be affected by mental illnesses.
